Customer Perspectives

Perspectives allow you to group cloud resources across cloud providers, regions and AZs that you have deployed for a Customer or Product. You can group them based on cloud accounts, regions, AZs, asset category, assets or tags. As an industry best practice, we have seen most customers prefer and use tags for such purposes. If you can attach specific Customer tags (in any format, key = value or just a value/label), MCP auto-discovers tags along with assets and allows you to create these perspectives. Follow these steps to group cloud resources as perspectives.

In this case, last week’s spend by the production environment was USD 401. I am setting a budget of $400 in this example which is checked against weekly accrued cost for this environment.

The next step is to create an Alarm for this Budget. This example shows three levels of thresholds set which generates an Alarm and notifies the user.

On reaching the thresholds set above, you can configure to receive alerts on Email, Slack or Teams or all of them.

Daily Cost Monitoring:

In a dynamic cloud environment when resources are added/removed or scaled often, cloud costs variance on a daily or weekly or monthly basis are high. Most common problems faced by Customers and Partners world-wide is that their monthly cloud bills go very high and most often, it is too late to act and they end up paying higher cloud bills. The daily (or weekly or monthly) cloud cost monitoring in CloudVerse help you get notified immediately (the next day) to enable you trigger corrective actions that would ensure you stay within the limits and monthly invoices stay within your controls.

Add a new Alarm to monitor daily cost.

Define the scope to identify what to monitor. In this case, you can choose to monitor a Customer perspective and choose specific Customer you want to monitor.

Set your monitoring thresholds. An example is shown below.

Choose the notifications channels how you wish to be notified on reaching the thresholds set.

Cost optimisation recommendations and Custom Thresholds

CloudVerse allows you to set your custom thresholds based on which the cost optimisation recommendations are generated. CloudVerse applies defaults for various recommendations and your tenant admins can overwrite them if you'd prefer that is specific to your environment.
