Create a Spending Alarm

Procedure:

  1. From the left pane (navigation menu), select Spend → Custom Monitoring. The Custom Monitoring page displays a list of alarms

  2. Select the + Add button in the top right of tab to create a new user. The Add Alarm dialog appears.

  3. Enter the required information in the following fields for step 1:

Description

Name

Enter the alarm name.

Description

Describe the alarm detail information

Alarm Type

Types: Total Cost

Granularity

The frequency of alarm

Expiry Date

Set a date to invalidate the alarm, if there is no input date the alarm will never be expired

  1. Press Next button to go to step 2. Create the Alarm scope conditions:

Scope type

Types:

  • Perspective

  • Provider

  • Account

  • Region

  • Availability zone

  • Asset category

  • Asset

  • Account Tags

Condition type

Conditions:

  • Is : chosen type is equal to value

  • Is not : chosen type is not equal to value

Condition value

Selection box will list down all values corresponding with the chosen type

+ Add condition

Click to the button Add condition to adding one more condition

  1. Press Next button to go to step 3. Create the Alarm Thresholds:

Field

Description

Threshold Type

Types:

  • Amount

  • Percentage

Threshold Value

There are 2 types of value:

  • Value amount in USD

  • Value percentage from 0% -> 100%

Severity

Alarm levels

  • Warning

  • High

  • Critical

+ Add Threshold

Click to the button Add Threshold to adding one more threshold

  1. Press Next button to go to step 4. Create the Notifications.

  2. Choose the notification types you want to receive when alarm comes: In-App Notification, Email, Slack, Teams

  3. Press Add button to create a new Alarm
