Find your AWS role ARN¶
CloudVerse asks for a Role ARN when you connect AWS with the CloudFormation stack or with an IAM role you created yourself. This page shows where to copy it from. For the full setup flow, see Amazon Web Services (AWS).
If you deployed the CloudFormation stack¶
- In the AWS console, open CloudFormation > Stacks.
- Select the stack you created from the CloudVerse template.
- Open the Outputs tab.
- Copy the
RoleArnvalue and paste it into the Role ARN field in CloudVerse.
If you created the IAM role yourself¶
- In the AWS console, open IAM > Roles.
- Select the role that trusts the CloudVerse account with your External ID.
- Copy the ARN shown at the top of the role summary.
- Paste it into the Role ARN field in CloudVerse.
Check the format¶
A role ARN looks like this, where the account ID is 12 digits:
arn:aws:iam::123456789012:role/RoleName
CloudVerse rejects anything else with "That does not look like an IAM role ARN". Common mistakes:
- pasting the 12-digit account ID on its own;
- pasting the stack ARN (
arn:aws:cloudformation:...) instead of theRoleArnoutput; - pasting a user ARN (
arn:aws:iam::...:user/...) instead of a role ARN.
